Character Name: Thomas Raith

Appearance: As an incubus it is very safe to assume that the one word to describe Thomas is sexy and even devilishly so. He has naturally curly brown hair that frames his face and intense grey eyes. His skin is rather pale but not sickly so. Thomas is tall, a little over six feet, and of a lean build with nice muscle structure and dimples that could kill. He has often been described; by Harry no less, as “the forgotten Greek god of body cologne.” Thomas dresses with a lot more fashion sense than most people do or it could be he just looks good in anything. He carries himself confidently and it reflects in his self-assured smile.
Personality: At first Thomas comes off as your typical “pretty-boy,” he seems arrogant and flippant about most things. He is very charming to a fault, meaning most women will hinge on his every word, though whether they are actually paying attention to what he is saying and not his appearance is another matter. Some may say he is shallow or egotistical but those are merely parts Thomas plays. He is actually a lot more caring of a person than is typical for a vampire of his position. He doesn’t like what he has to do but the fact of the matter is he HAS to do it to live. In order to protect the people he cares about Thomas puts up a front of being flaky and uncaring because if he were to care he would end up hurting the people close to him…namely Justine.

Thomas is very loyal to his family, Raith and Dresden alike. It puts him in difficult positions more than once but he somehow manages to jungle both. The only person he’s never really cared for is his own father but that is more than likely due to the fact his father wants to kill him. As mush as Thomas’ father hates him Thomas probably hates his father even more for all the pain he’s put his sisters’ through not to mention his mother. Thomas will do anything to keep his family out of harm and will go in risking his life to save theirs.

Thomas has a sarcastic kind of humor much like his half brother’s and is very blunt about things. He doesn’t dance around any subject (unless for his own sake and ego) and will not let a good jibe at anyone pass him up.

As mentioned, Thomas does not like what he has to do to live. He feels a lot of guilt over the women he has hurt because of his Hunger and does all that he can to minimize the damage he inflicts. Thomas can become quite a mess when his Hunger goes unfed for any length of time, becoming irritable and short tempered though he also has a knack for hiding this fact for a very long time. Thomas tries to keep his seductiveness in check but it usually tends to come naturally and while he only has eyes for one woman, Justine, he sometimes can’t help but be a tad bit flirty.
Abilities: Thomas is a vampire of the White Court which basically means he is an incubus. The White Court is the most human of the three vampire courts and they feed off emotional energy or a person’s life force. He is stronger and much faster than normal humans but can really only access these abilities when he is well-fed. After all, Thomas’ power comes from an inner demon referred to as Hunger, which stores energy from his feedings and can be used to heighten his abilities in a fight as well as help him heal from injuries a lot faster. When Thomas taps into this source, his eyes turn silver and his skin goes white and the temperature around them seems to drop. He also has a natural aura of ‘attraction’ about him because of his nature. It draws people (normally women) to him sexually and unfortunately, he can’t turn it off.

Supernatural abilities aside Thomas is an adapt fighter when it comes to hand-to-hand and has shown skill with a sword as well as a shotgun. Thomas is also a very skilled hair stylist as well as makeup artist and dancer. The first two he went to school for and the last one comes natural. He’s also good in bed but that could be more related to his incubus nature than anything…it’s hard to say.

Here in Manhattan, his abilities are still better than a normal human is but he’s not going to be flipping any cars without a lot of cost. The same can be said for his healing abilities as well as speed…while they’ll both probably be faster than the norm it will take far too much out of him to use it for any length of time and injuries will be a lot slower to heal. Unfortunately, Thomas’ Hunger will be in full swing so when he does tap into reserves it will be at a great drain and make him want to feed even more.
Weaknesses: Thomas’ major weakness is of course the Hunger itself. It forces him to have to feed on women for their life energy. This process is usually through sex but Thomas has found another means by which to feed which is good because if he ever lost control he could kill his victim. The Hunger also makes it impossible for him to come in contact with anyone who has been in ‘true love.’ According to Thomas it is rare now a days but the fact of the matter is it happens and can be detrimental to a White Court vampire. Luckily, he doesn’t have the other vampire weaknesses of sunlight and holy relics.

Another weakness is Justine, a woman he fed on but also cared for deeply. He does anything for her protection because he loves her but because of that he can never be with her again…because she loves him too and even risked her life to save him. Thomas has a soft spot for the woman and whoever harms her is in for one severe beating. Arguably his sisters and Harry are also weak spots of his because he would do the same for them…family is very important to Thomas because it’s one of the things that makes him feel less demonic.

History:
Thomas Raith was born into the White Court, a child between the King and Harry’s future mother. She was kept as a mere pet for a few years before finally managing to blow the King off and escape. He somehow learned that she had had another son but never actively sought him out or knew it was Harry until years later. Thomas was one of the few males in the Raith household because of his father’s paranoia about one of them attempting to usurp his thrown. Thomas didn’t know he was a White Court vampire until his late teens when the Hunger started to take its effect on him. He gave into it and fed, becoming a full fledged vampire.

Thomas is usually used as an insult by his father who tends to send him in his place to various events and gatherings of the supernatural world. The first time Harry meets Thomas is at once such event, a Red Court vampire Bianca is hosting a party and Thomas is there with his girlfriend Justine. He helps Harry through the book but betrays him once for Justine…later coming to his rescue. This happens again with the Red Court when Count Ortega requests Thomas’ father as a second in a duel against Harry no less and is sent Thomas instead…Thomas shows up to the duel intoxicated in order to help Harry in a sense.

During this time, Thomas has been plotting to take his father’s power and again gets Harry involved…this time revealing to Harry that they are brothers. Thomas receives a fatal injury after certain events in a fight and Justine offers herself to him in hopes of saving him. Thomas feeds on her, supposedly out of control to save himself but somehow he keeps a bit of his mind so that he doesn’t out right kill her like he was supposed to. Justine is still greatly weakened by this feeding and is immobilized into a near vegetable state.

Lord Raith finds out about Thomas’ plan to overthrow him and attempts to sacrifice him in order to kill Harry but they manage to rescue him and intervene on the ritual. Lara, Thomas’ sister, takes control of the family in her father’s stead but to keep up appearances exiles Thomas.

Thomas lives with Harry, his only relative outside the White Court, for awhile. Times are hard though because the wizards are at war with vampires and Thomas can only feed on the occasional woman he bumps into. He tries to get a normal job in order to help make ends meet but its difficult with all his women coworkers jumping him every chance they can. Finally he comes across the idea of being a hairdresser and puts himself through cosmetology school. Apparently washing women’s hair is the next most intimate thing to sex with her so Thomas is able to…sip at their energy while he works. It’s not much but the energies add up and so does the money. Eventually without much word to Harry, Thomas moves out of Harry’s apartment not wanting his brother to know about his new job.

Harry is suspicious of this but it doesn’t really get bad until a series of murders and disappearances point to Thomas as a suspect and Harry can’t get in contact with his brother. Contrary to his brother’s suspicions, Thomas was HELPING the women escape from the murderer and was protecting them. They pin down the real killers and confront them at the Raith Manor where a meeting of the White Court is in session. Thomas is briefly reunited with Justine and helps take down several ghouls that invade the place. Eventually Harry discovers what his brother has been up to with the hairdressing job and everything seems good for Thomas for once…well at least until Harry gets into more trouble…or you know he mysteriously wakes up in Manhattan post-Big Momma attack.
